About Healing Exercise Tai Chi DVDs

Grandmaster Victor ShengLong Fu is an exceedingly rare and special Tai Chi teacher, and the creator of Healing Exercise’s entire DVD instructional program. Grandmaster Fu is a careerist in these arts – he did not study another program like western medicine or engineering. Grandmaster Fu was raised in one of the most famous Tai Chi families in the world and has focused only on the internal arts and the associated traditional Chinese medicine practices.

Fu Zhen Song Tai Chi DVDs

Grandmaster Fu’s grandfather, Fu Zhen Song, was quite literally the most famous martial artist of the 20th century. He created the original Fu Style Tai Chi and was recruited by the Chinese central government to teach his knowledge to the people and spread his amazing health. He had over 10,000 students and was the best friend of famous masters Yang ChengFu and Sun LuTang.

Fu Wing Fay Performing Tai Chi

Grandmaster Fu’s father, Fu Wing Fay, was also one of the most revered Tai Chi teachers in the world. Wing Fay trained the world-famous master Bow Sim Mark (the mother of Donnie Yen) and thousands of others. He was certified by the Chinese central government as one of the top Tai Chi masters in China.

So Grandmaster Victor Fu was not merely a “student” of a great master, but the son and grandson of two major, historical Tai Chi figures. Grandmaster Fu started teaching classes and winning provincial competitions at the age of 12. He improved the Fu Style system in many ways and has been teaching Sitting Tai Chi to seniors for over 30 years.

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Anxiety

Tai Chi has many different health benefits, especially for seniors. By practicing Tai Chi with our DVDs, you can actually reduce your anxiety levels. The current practice of Tai Chi stems from a Chinese tradition that has become a simple exercise with slow movements and deep breathing.

Symptoms of Anxiety

Anxiety can be a difficult condition to deal with. If you are struggling with anxiety, you probably have symptoms such as insomnia, feeling an abnormal heartbeat, shortness of breath, fatigue, sweating, and a fear of impending doom. Anxiety can be treated in many ways, and those suffering from it often turn to medication to help reduce these symptoms. However, medication is not always the best choice, and it is certainly not your only choice of treatments for anxiety.

Treating Anxiety Through the Practice of Tai Chi

Even if you do turn to medication to help treat your anxiety condition, you can also supplement your treatment by practicing Tai Chi to reduce your symptoms. According to a study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2014, the regular practice of Tai Chi can help manage symptoms related to anxiety.

Tai Chi Helps Relieve Fibromyalgia

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a difficult condition to live with. This condition consists of musculoskeletal pain, along with memory, mood, and sleep issues. The current state of research in this area indicates that fibromyalgia amplifies the experience of painful sensations by affecting how pain signals are processed in your brain. Those that suffer from fibromyalgia often report feeling pain in many different areas of their body.

The Condition of Fibromyalgia

You can develop fibromyalgia at any time, at any age. Symptoms of this condition may come about after you have suffered physical trauma, or after your body has gone through major surgery. You can also develop fibromyalgia after battling an infection or experiencing significant psychological stress.

Though the development of this condition is often associated with one of the above triggering events, you can also develop fibromyalgia with a gradual onset of symptoms. The symptoms commonly associated with fibromyalgia include fatigue, widespread pain throughout the body, and cognitive difficulties.

How Healing Exercise Tai Chi DVDs Can Help You Manage Your Fibromyalgia

A recent study done by Tuffs University and Brown University followed adults with fibromyalgia who were randomly assigned to two physical treatment methods. One group participated in supervised aerobic exercise, while the other group practiced Tai Chi. The study found that while both groups of adults suffering from fibromyalgia had a noted improvement to their symptoms, the group that did the Tai Chi exercises had greater improvement than those in the basic aerobic exercise group.

Tai Chi has many proven benefits to those dealing with fibromyalgia. While general exercise has been shown to help fibromyalgia sufferers, recent research indicates that Tai Chi may have even greater benefits to your health. If you are looking for a way to improve your fibromyalgia symptoms, the DVDs we offer at Healing Exercise can help improve your health and reduce your fibromyalgia symptoms.

Tai Chi Relieves Arthritis

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Arthritis

Arthritis is a condition that involves inflammation of one or more of your joints. This joint inflammation causes pain and stiffness, and these symptoms of arthritis can worsen with age. There are different forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Symptoms and Treatment for Arthritis

Some of the most common symptoms present in those suffering from arthritis include swelling, pain, joint stiffness, and a reduced range of motion. There are different ways that you can treat your arthritis, ranging from medications to physical therapy treatment. In some cases, surgery may be required to help reduce arthritis symptoms and to improve the quality of life for a longtime arthritis-sufferer.

Tai Chi Exercises to Help Manage Arthritis Symptoms

While there are many kinds of exercise people can do to improve their health, individuals suffering from arthritis must be careful and must choose an exercise program that does not make their condition worse. Tai Chi is actually one of the best forms of exercise for people with arthritis. Tai Chi is a slow moving and simple exercise that focuses on deep breathing. It is not strenuous or overbearing on joints.

With the regular practice of Tai Chi, you can improve your flexibility, which can help keep your joints mobile and reduce stiffness. Another added benefit to your health is that Tai Chi is known to improve muscle strength. With stronger muscles, you can help keep your joints stable, which can lead to less pain and a lower likelihood of injury. In addition to these benefits, practicing Tai Chi can give your mind clarity and help you improve your health overall due to your improved mental state.

Our Tai Chi DVDs allow you to practice Tai Chi exercises in your own home. With the help of our DVDs, you can implement the practices of Tai Chi into your life and begin improving both your mental and physical health.

Tai Chi DVDs Help with Cancer

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Cancer

If you have any form of cancer, you may not be able to participate in the same exercise activities that you used to be able to. This is especially true if you are in treatment for cancer, as your body may be weaker and unable to tolerate high-intensity workouts. Luckily, there is a way to exercise in order to get stronger and healthier that does not require strenuous effort.

Benefits of Tai Chi for People with Cancer

Tai Chi is an ancient form of exercise that has many benefits. If you are in the process of fighting cancer, starting a Tai Chi work out program will help you get moving and can elevate your mood and sense of well-being. Regular Tai Chi exercise can help you with pain management, particularly with pain that involves your joints and muscles. Practicing Tai Chi can also help you mentally by reducing feelings of anxiety and stress. In addition, it improves your quality of sleep.

How Practicing Tai Chi Can Help You

If you have cancer, you are probably forced to deal with many side effects, not only side effects associated with cancer but side effects to medications and treatments you are undergoing to fight your cancer. Tai Chi, when regularly practiced, can provide many benefits.

The slow and rhythmic movements incorporated in Tai Chi that are combined with deep breathing will help you to become more grounded and have a deeper sense of peace. Practicing Tai Chi can help you build back some muscle strength and flexibility, as well as give you mental benefits that aid you in fighting back against cancer.

Tai Chi Back Pain Relief

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Back Pain

People suffer from back pain for a number of reasons, ranging from injuries due to the back as a result of traumatic accidents to age-related gradual development of back pain. Though there are many ways to treat back pain— from physical therapy to medication—or even surgery in extreme cases, one often overlooked method to treat back pain is exercise. Not all forms of exercise may help someone suffering from back pain; however, Tai Chi has been shown to help alleviate back pain in some individuals.

The Benefits of Tai Chi for Treatment of Back Pain

Tai Chi has three main components. These include:

Movement: Tai Chi is a low-impact exercise that focuses on slow and fluid movements that are performed to improve your body’s posture, flexibility, strength, balance, and alignment.

Meditation: Another important aspect of Tai Chi is meditation and one’s state of mind. Maintaining a meditative state of mind while you are doing Tai Chi exercises helps you to combat anxiety and stress, which in turn can lead to pain relief due to these psychological and emotional factors.

Breathing: Tai Chi involves rhythmical and focused breathing techniques that encourage you to relax your mind and body. These breathing techniques also help to increase your blood circulation by allowing for oxygenated blood to flow to your brain and your muscles while you are performing Tai Chi.

All of these components together have the added benefit of helping you manage your back pain. Tai Chi is a great addition to your treatment regimen for back pain, as it has proven results. Healing Exercise has DVDs available for you to purchase to learn the principles of Tai Chi and to begin your own journey to heal your back pain. These DVDs allow you to learn the Tai Chi exercises at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home.

Tai Chi DVDs Help Osteoporosis

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a bone disease, which many people suffer from as they age. When you have osteoporosis, your body loses bone mass or makes too little bone. This causes your bones to become more fragile and weakened, making you more susceptible to broken bones when you fall or injure yourself. An injury that may be minor to someone without osteoporosis may become much more serious and difficult to recover from if it happens to a person with osteoporosis.

Managing Osteoporosis Through Tai Chi Exercise

People suffering from osteoporosis stand to benefit greatly by participating in a Tai Chi exercise program. In fact, studies have shown that Tai Chi has contributed to a slowing down of bone loss density in individuals with osteoporosis. As Tai Chi helps to improve flexibility and balance, this exercise can help people with osteoporosis become less likely to suffer injuries like broken bones or fractures.  Tai Chi can also help reduce falls since it has such a positive impact on balance.

As osteoporosis is more prevalent in older individuals, people affected by osteoporosis are often also suffering from other conditions, such as arthritis.  By practicing Tai Chi, you can become more relaxed, which also has a positive impact on your mental strength. This mental strength can help you to understand and cope better with the difficulties you face due to your osteoporosis condition.

Additional Benefits of Participating in Tai Chi

Tai Chi can have major benefits for people who are trying to manage their osteoporosis condition. By participating in Tai Chi exercise, you can improve your balance and coordination, build up your muscular strength, increase your stamina, relieve symptoms of stress and depression, improve your ability to concentrate, increase your memory capabilities, and improve your posture.

Healing Exercise offers DVDs for purchase that can help you combat the symptoms you are experiencing due to osteoporosis. These DVDs allow you to practice Tai Chi at home at your own pace. Purchase one of our DVDs today to get started with Tai Chi.

Tai Chi DVDs Improve Immune System

How Tai Chi DVDs Help Improve Your Immune System

Having a low-functioning immune system can cause you to develop colds and other illnesses at a faster rate than the general population. As you age, it becomes harder to maintain a healthy immune system functioning. Of course, people who are dealing with a low-functioning immune system would like to fix this issue in order to live a healthier life. One way to improve your immune system is to begin practicing the ancient art of Tai Chi.

The Effect of Tai Chi on a Person’s Immune System

Studies have shown a positive link between exercise and an improved immune system. A UCLA study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society back in 2007 involved an analysis of whether the practice of Tai Chi invoked a positive immune response that rose to the level of a vaccine. The results of the study indicated that Tai Chi did, in fact, seem to have a very strong effect on a person’s immune system.

One hypothesis as to why Tai Chi seems to have such a strong impact on the human immune system is because it gives people the combination of relaxation and meditation all together in one exercise. By involving aspects of meditation and relaxation as part of the Tai Chi exercise regimen, a person enhances their T-cell activity by lessening the “flight or fight” response in their body. By quieting the flight or fight response, you may be able to improve your immune system, as this bodily response—if frequently invoked—has been shown to have a negative impact on your immune system

Healing Exercise has Tai Chi DVDs available for purchase to help you learn Tai Chi exercises that can help you build up and improve your immune system. Since you are able to exercise using these DVDs any day at any time, there is no reason to delay your efforts to improve your immune system and begin your journey to a happier, healthier you.

Tommy Kirchhoff Standing Tai Chi DVD

If Sitting Tai Chi sounds too slow for you we recommend you start with our Standing Tai Chi DVD.

Many seniors have left product reviews saying this routine is “easy peasey”– while many elite athletes have described the Standing DVD as “much harder than it looks.” This should tell you that our Standing DVD fits a broad range of able-bodied people.

Especially beneficial is the last exercise on our Standing Tai Chi DVD: Tai Chi Stepping. Here the sequence deviates from merely stationary and details a wonderful gait-correcting step that demands balance on one foot, fully opens the hips, and incorporates two turns of the waist for each step.

Whereas the majority of Tai Chi styles teach turning the waist ONCE with each step, Fu Style Tai Chi emphasizes TWO waist turns for each step. By doubling the rotation the body develops flexibility and skill twice as fast.

The Fu Family spent 100 years developing the most developed forms of Tai Chi, and created many training ideas that are both traditionally orthodox and cutting edge.

Golden Form Tai Chi Grandmaster Fu

What if I have some Tai Chi experience ?

If you are very able bodied and have some Tai Chi experience we recommend our GoldenForm Tai Chi instructional DVD. The warm-up exercises are challenging but instantly beneficial. The form itself is fairly demanding; however, the instructions are extremely detailed and broken down into small, digestible chunks. The GoldenForm DVD also includes precise details on Fu Style two-turn stepping, and a gorgeous little booklet that spells out the specific principles that dictate proper Tai Chi.

Tai Chi Classroom

Yeah, but I teach Tai Chi…

So let’s say you have years of Tai Chi experience, and now you want more. Perhaps you are a competent Tai Chi teacher.

Maybe you learned everything that your teacher had offer, and as Grandmaster Fu says, “You came to the end.”

Or maybe you lived in an area that lacked a great teacher and the quality of your Tai Chi skill is not equal to your expectations. Now you want to make the jump to Fu Style. We still recommend you check out our GoldenForm Tai Chi DVD.

Even the most experienced Tai Chi “player” will find new information in the detailed explanations of Grasp Bird’s Tail, Repulse Monkey, Wave Hands Like Clouds and Single Whip. You’ll adopt new queues for relaxation and probably learn something unexpected about Tai Chi posture.

For most the two-turn step is a fresh approach to Tai Chi stepping, which is the foundation of all Tai Chi.

Tai Chi in Nature

Once you’re familiar with Fu Style Tai Chi basics you can move on to 24-Form Tai Chi (the internationally recognized sequence developed for everyone to play together) or the Fu Style 105-Form Tai Chi, which is the long form practiced in the most popular Yang Style classes.

Even if you have 20 years of experience practicing the Yang Style 108-Form you will find all new structure, details, transitions and Yin/Yang balance in the Fu Style 105-Form— even though they are virtually the same form and sequence of movements.

What level am I ?

Many experienced Tai Chi players are surprised to discover that the long form they learned from their teacher (probably the end of the teachings) is merely the beginner form in Fu Style. Once you learn the Fu Style 105-Form and practice it diligently the rest of the system opens up to you.

LiangYi Tai Chi Outside

If you want to continue your soft-skills and physical development you can move on to LiangYi (I like to say LiangYi is what Tai Chi wants to be when it grows up).

From there you can move on to BaGuaZhang—an incredibly difficult system of stepping and movements; or you can double-back and try Fu Style Advanced Tai Chi.
